For many people, focusing on the negatives in their life can feel much simpler than searching for the positives. We try to outdo each other with our tales of woe and traumatic childhoods. We talk of how hard we had it as teenagers, how our childhoods were ruined by our parents.

The issue in our society is that we have come to see suffering and hardship as a badge of honour. If feels like the harder we struggle, the more we feel we deserve. People who think like this have it all wrong.

Although not everyone chooses to sustain a mindset of negativity, the ones that do are damaging their chances for a fulfilled and happy life. It's because of this that we must refuse to dwell in negativity, to prevent this becoming our reality.

1.Do unto others as you would have them do unto you! Our behaviour towards ourselves and towards others sets the blueprint for how others treat us - so, love and love will come to you.

3.Remember the little things. Hold the door open for strangers, smile, leave a 'thank-you' note. Sometimes, it is the smallest acts of kindest which have the biggest impact.

4.Accept others with an open mind. Learn to accept others, precisely as they are. Judgment of others is actually judgment of ourselves.

5.Forgive. Forgiveness, for yourself and for others, provides the perfect solution to letting go of past hurts and resentments.

6.Practice self-love. Looking after yourself and loving yourself is the best thing you can do for yourself and for others. Love has to begin with loving you.

7.Say 'thank-you'. Having an attitude of gratitude can transform your life. When you look for things to be thankful for, you begin to find increasingly more reasons to be positive (see - law of attraction success quotes ).

8.Use failure. Be unafraid of it, learn from it, and use it as the springboard to your success. Teach others to do the same.
